Other Tattoo Removal Methods
|
There are different tattoo removal methods other than the laser which have been slowly phasing out because the laser is considered to be the best among all methods. Most people are satisfied who have undergone this method in a tattoo removal session. You may still find other methods available in some clinics which they may offer for people who can not afford laser removal. Below are the other methods used to remove a tattoo.
Dermabrasion – This is a surgical process where a local anesthesia is usually applied. During this process the epidermis is grinded away by using a machine that has a pointed tip made of sandpaper until the pigmented skin is reached. Thus through friction, the tattooed area is removed.
Salabrasion - This is similar to dermabrasion except it uses salt which is rubbed into the skin until it reaches the pigmented skin. It may sound so easy to do but it is advisable that you seek professional help when undergoing this method.
Cyrosurgery – This includes the use of the dermabrasion method, however, the skin is first frozen up to minimize the loss of blood. Liquid nitrogen is often sprayed on the tattoo area to freeze it up. This method is not commonly used for tattoos as it is used to remove warts.
Excision – A surgery is involved in this method because there is a need for the pigmented area to be cut out. Then the edges are stitched together. If you happened to have a big tattoo then you may have a skin graft. Thus, this procedure may leave a scar on your skin.
Removal Creams - Another alternative you can apply is the use of tattoo removal creams. This involves skin peeling. This is similar when you want to peel any dead cells on your skin. However, if your tattoo is too big, it may take several months before you can remove the ink from your skin. This method may be effective for tattoos that are only on the epidermis of a skin.
These methods can cause some irritation, scars, skin discoloration, excessive pain and even infection. Additionally, healing period may take a couple of days. With the laser method, you would feel less pain and it is considered to be the safest method in removing tattoo.
